Key takeaways

01

People remember how a product felt, not its feature list.

02

One considered moment does more than ten small flourishes.

03

Speed and clarity are part of the experience, not a technical detail.

Memory is built from moments, not screens

People do not remember interfaces. They remember how a product made a task feel: faster than expected, calmer than expected, more considered than expected. Those moments are designed on purpose.

We look for the two or three points in a journey where attention is highest, and we spend disproportionate effort there. Everything else should stay quiet and get out of the way.

Design the moment people will describe

Ask someone about a product they love and they describe a moment: the first time it worked, the screen that made them smile, the step that used to be painful and now is not. That moment is the brief.

Find it early and put the craft there. Motion, sound, copy and timing should all point at the same few seconds.

Restraint is a feature

Every extra effect competes with the one that matters. We remove animation until removing more would make the experience worse, and stop there.

Performance is part of the feeling

A slow page feels careless no matter how good it looks. We treat load time and responsiveness as design material, set budgets for them at the start and check them on real devices.

The result is quieter than most portfolios and far easier to remember.

“A memorable experience is usually one clear idea, protected from everything that wanted to sit beside it.”
